Book Review: Love is the Greatest by Dr. George Sweeting

Planeta Rica By Cindy Bleuler Tucker
What is the greatest virtue of Christianity, the one which most exemplifies the character of Jesus? Former Moody Bible Institute President and Chancellor Dr. George Sweeting extols the virtue of love. In “Love is the Greatest”,Sweeting examines 1 Corinthians 13, known as the love chapter of the New Testament.
This is easy reading, yet every word is practical and meaningful . With personal anecdotes and quotes both sacred and secular, Sweeting examines what love is, people’s universal need for love, the attributes of love, how we are able to love, and the foundation of love. He begins each chapter with a different Biblical translation of I Corinthians 13. I found this really helped me understand the meaning of the passage.
If you are someone who underlines passages you want to remember, you will find yourself underlining everything.
This book was written in 1977 and some of his commentary may seem dated but the universal truths are timeless.
